Meet the Photographer
Hey, my name is Sarah Mason
I’m a photographer, high school band director, and church musician based in Minnesota.
I grew up in northern Minnesota and spent most of my twenties teaching music in small-town Minnesota before eventually making my way to Virginia for graduate school and then back home again. These days, I teach band at Apple Valley High School (go Eagles!) and also work part-time as an organist and handbell choir director at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville.
Somewhere along the way, photography went from “the thing I do with friends for fun” to a huge part of my life. I’ve been the friend with the camera since high school, turning normal hangouts into unnecessary photoshoots. What started as a hobby slowly turned into photographing weddings, seniors, families, and all kinds of milestones, and I’ve now been photographing professionally for nearly a decade.
My goal with photography is pretty simple: I want your photos to actually feel like you. Nothing overly stiff or awkward, just natural, personal images you’ll still love years from now.
Outside of photography and teaching, I enjoy spending time with family, reading, long walks with a podcast, doom scrolling, shopping, and acquiring supplies for hobbies I briefly become convinced will change my life.
Anyway, thanks for being here!
